No option to buy house in riften
Anyone having difficulty buying a house in Falkreath? I have been trying to buy a house in Falkreath for about 45 minutes now, and yes I have asked the steward no option to buy house in riften well about buying land, I have even went back to a save made about a week ago and I can't. The only house that I was able to buy is the one from the Dawnstar Jarl.
I have no clue how to get the other 2 plots of land for the achievement. I've talked to nearly every Jarl, which ones sell plots of land besides the Dawnstar one? Make sure you don't have a radiant open from another location as it locks out the Jarl, check this: I had "The Mirror" open under Misc. Yeah the only plot of land I can't buy is Falkreath. Guess I'll just keep completing miscellaneous quests hoping something triggers the land purchase.
Same problem, I understand it's related to you killing his servant guy, Halvard something earlier in the Dark Brotherhood questlines meaning Jarl Siddgeir in Falkreath doesn't like you meaning no option to buy house in riften never unlocks the land-purchase option. I am a Thane everywhere including Falkreath and have the named weapons to prove it and can pick up one of the random radient quests from the steward but even after no option to buy house in riften this, no further quests appear from either Jarl or steward and no purchase option appears.
Both Dawnstar and Morthal no option to buy house in riften work fine but the constant snow annoys me and I'd prefer a more temperate climate to build in, like anyone. I'm not even interested in the achievement, I just wanted my character to retire. I guess another area for now will have to do. I'm honestly very surprised Bethesda overlooked this problem, quite disgusted to be honest.
If its because the steward dislikes you, is it really a "problem" in the game? If its some sort of bug holding it up, then please, complain away: If its as intended, and the steward hates your guts I enjoy games where you're punished for your actions.
Anyone tried repeating one of the hold's radiant quests over and over to increase the steward's opinion of you? Like selling crops over and over? Good point, though we never knew before hand that he would be selling the land, otherwise I would have never killed him. I couldnt buy it until I read the 'letter from the Steward of Falkreath' that was in my inventory, dont know if that'll make a difference for anyone else though. I think it has to do with some of the actual sidequests in that hold.
My experience panned out as follows: I received my letter from the Jarl of Falkreath, I went over to him and killed some bandits he was dealing with No option to buy house in riften sure if thats radiant as I've done it more than once, going to the same hideout with the same objective, however if it is then my bad and then returned.
I asked to buy a plot of land and I wasn't thane, but I was given the land. After that I could purchase my second piece of land. Finally I travelled to Dawnstar and completed the Waking Nightmare quest which you receive in the Inn from the priest of Mara, can't miss him to be fair, he's the priest with the maceas the Jarl won't deal with you otherwise, then I completed a quick Giant slaying quest for him, then I could buy the 3rd plot.
I would say you try and make sure the above is completed first, then talk to the Jarls no option to buy house in riften and ask if you can do anything for them. If the radiant quests do contribute then I'll shut up xD. I haven't been able to buy a house in Dawnstar, but I was able to buy in the other locations. This thread explains what worked for me and many others.
Just make sure if you have any of the quests listed, complete them. I had one open miscellaneous quest off the list, did it, then I was able to buy the land. Same problem, I understand it's related to you killing his servant guy, Val-something earlier in the Dark Brotherhood questlines meaning Siddgeri in Falkreath doesn't like you meaning he never unlocks the land-purchase option.
Unless you have a save data before you kill Helvard in the Dark Brotherhood, there's no chance you can get the land at least from the 3 hours of trying to test all possibilities. Only have miscellaneous quests not related to anything "Thane" related and I'm sure it's the whole Helvard thing since you still get the quests from Nenya which isn't "glitched" but rather the Jarl itself.
I could not get started with Falkreath's Thane quests until I started clearing up misc. I needed to turn in the mammoth tusk to ysolda to get the Briars-mead quest. I then spent over 3 hours doing other misc. As has been stated, there are radiant quests that will block the Falkreath Jarl from giving you quests until you wrap them up. Or made this DLC without achievements. I agree that a work around should be there You know, it's odd.
The new Jarl and his Steward basically have no relation to Helvard at all who still happens to be laying on the floor where I killed himand yet, I still can't purchase the land in Falkreath. Is there anyone who were offered the choice to buy the land, and were able to do so, while the current Jarl is Siddgeir AND Halvard is already dead? Just to narrow this down: Emphasize on "AND", meaning both criteria has to be in place at the same time. Thanks in advance for any information.
In both these games Siddgeir is the current Jarl. Also it isn't the rare item dropoff Amulet of Arkay, Ysolde's mammoth no option to buy house in riften etc stopping the advancement either as the character that can buy Falkreath land also has the Arkay quest still active. It's something else and I have no idea what it can be.
Underlining to assure the details are correct. I killed Halvard as part of the DB questline and had no problem well that is a lie, I had a radiant quest open and had to finish it before the Jarl would give me the get him a drink quest. Neither the Jarl nor the new steward ever seemed angry at me or hateful towards me Question for those of you having problems because you killed Halvard: Did someone see you do it?
I always made sure no one saw me kill anyone in the DB quests. Maybe that makes a difference. Yeah, definitely made sure I was never seen on the DB quests, if I was a reloaded and tried again. I'm something of a perfectionist completionist so not being able to make that 3rd house on my "completed" runthrough is pretty devastating I've got this too. Honestly is pretty ridiculous. I'm still suffering from the Blood on the Ice bug so can't get Hjerim on my main lvl 78 character either.
You can't expect people to play your game for nigh on a year and then release a DLC with achievements tied to a character who is meant to be killed in a faction questline. It is definitely becoming Thane and completing the Jarls radiant quest prior to killing Helvard that causes this, as his disposition is redeemable according to numerous sources around the internet by becoming Thane or getting the Black Briar Mead after assassinating Helvard.
Anyone who says otherwise is just stirring it up. I've messaged Bethesda twice, once with a link to this thread. You guys should too, hopefully it will be addressed in a patch. Yes, given how much it has cost to construct just two of them on my lvl 78 save file with almostSeptims. Anyone who says otherwise is just stirring it up Excuse me just one second but I'm not stirring anything up, feel free to pop along to my place and I'll show you the 2 characters' saved games no option to buy house in riften exactly the situations explained above, both with a dead Halverd in the jarl's long house and one with 3 completed houses and one with no sight nor sound of Falkreath land.
I'm in my 30's for crying out loud and have been gaming for 30 odd years, I'm no kid trying to troll. My apologies in advance if I am missing something here. I hadn't actually directed the post at you; if you go on gamespot you will find all manner of know-it-alls who are trying to tell people that they are playing the game wrong and have broken it themselves. My apologies in advance if I am missing something here Yes, you're missing that by "Falkreath land" I meant the plot of land to build on.
Look further back and you'll see the 4: The main difference between the 2 games I'm describing both with well over hours logged each is that one has an in-completable bounty mission for Skald I can't hand in, has completed the Imperial questline and the game overall as well as every faction questline, this one can NOT buy the Falkreath plot of land but has been a Falkreath Thane for a long time.
The other character has an active mission to hand an amulet of arkay to thor-wotsit name? So the point is the only constants I can see so far is completing the imperial questline can stop buying land in Falkreath, although as Falkreath and Siddgeir were on the imperial side this seems unlikely completion of the main game questline who knows? The only other thing I can think of is the vampire couple in the half-moon mill near falkreath may have an impact, in the game I can't buy the Falkreath land I killed both vampires in the DB quests, in the game I can buy I only killed the male leaving Hert alive.
Maybe that's something to do with it. Well I guess we hope Bethesda pays attention to how many people are having the same problem and therefore putting others who read the many forums off PAYING for the DLC's by simply making thanedom of the region the only requirement along with no option to buy house in riften cash. After all, the whole DLC is only a convenience, why no option to buy house in riften it?
This is just what I needed to know. I'm worried that I've completely locked out the possibility of buying the land. So we now have one instance of: I'll keep getting radiant quests from Nenya and see if No option to buy house in riften bump into something.
If anything, I have two bugged Misc. Apparently, it's an old bug. I don't see any reason why this could lockout the buy option, but it still could.
Until Bethesda releases a fix for this, I'll just have to bug Nenya as much as I can. If you have already completed tasks for the jarls of Falkreath, Hjaalmarch, or Dawnstar and earned their trust, you will receive a letter from the steward of their respective towns letting you know that land has become available for purchase.
Receipt of this letter is required in order to be able to purchase land. You will receive a iscellaneous objective, and a quest target that points to the Steward or relevant authority of that hold.
If you have not yet earned the trust no option to buy house in riften the Jarls, you will receive a letter via Courier once your character is level 9 or higher. The invite will allow your character to visit and learn about the benefits of working for them and the possibility of buying land.
